Susan Brownell Anthony
Susan Brownell Anthony was Born on February 15,1820 in South Adams,
Massachusetts. Young Susan grew up in a Quaker family with her father Daniel
Anthony, a cotton manufacture. Her father educated her with self support and
high morals, she also had skillful teachers. At the age of six she was sent away
to a school on Philadelphia, returning I'm the mid 1830's Susan started working
as a teacher in New York. Later when the Anthony's business went sour the family
all moved and began to fight against slavery. The family farm was actually used
to hold meeting with famous abolitionist. Through out the years Susan also got
involved with the Women's Temperance Society trying to fight the use of alcohol.
While doing this she discovered a interest in fighting for women's rights. By
1866 Susan helped establish the American Equal Right Organization, that called
for the same right no matter race or sex. She eventually founded the National
Women's Suffrage Association with a friend from the Equal Rights Organization.
Susan became the primary organizer, speaker, and writer traveling around the
world spreading for women's rights. On 1872 Susan decided to take matters into
her own hands by illegally voting, she was then arrested and fined but never
paid. During her joinery she then published a volume of the History of Women's
Suffrage, shortly following her death. In my opinion I believe Susan went
through a tuff battle just to get her point across. She was a strong willed
women how was determined to get what she wanted. I also found her to be very
intelligent and I liked how she helped out with different situations.
